Kid’s Meals

I’ll have a lot of compassion for you if, in thinking of your own childhood, it’s difficult to conjure up a feeling of nostalgic warmth for the Happy Meal.  Debuted in 1979, the Happy Meal may as well be deemed a rite of passage.  Is it the wonderful food inside?  Probably not.  Could it be the high-quality plastic toy?  Doubtful.  Is it that, due to time constraints, mom wasn’t able to cook her “prized” BBQ and ketchup biscuits that night, and therefore you were granted a stomach ache reprieve?  That’s what I’m betting on, or, at least, that’s my happy thought.

Nostalgia does not equal nutritious, though, although many fast food establishments have thankfully tried to offer more than just burgers and fries to our children.  Check out what your kiddos are eating (or not eating) below.  I guess it could be BBQ and ketchup biscuits, right?
