Burgers
What you may not know is that McDonald’s started out as a BBQ joint in San Bernadino, CA in 1940 (I wonder if they had the McRib back then, too?). In 1948, the location was shut down for renovations, and when it reopened it featured a condensed menu of only nine items, the staple of which was a 15¢ hamburger. By 1958, the business had sold its 100 millionth hamburger, and was well on its way to becoming the world’s largest fast food chain.
Quite possibly McDonald’s most popular, most widely-known sandwich is the Big Mac, which made its debut in 1968, and in 1973 the menu welcomed the Quarter Pounder (with and without cheese). But don’t forget the regular hamburger, which in 1988 was named by Fortune Magazine as one of the top 100 products that America makes the best.
Though admittedly tasty, these burger offerings come with a price, as with any fast food that you may decide to indulge yourself in. See below for a listing of nutritional info on some of your favorites, past or present, and if you’re still up for it, check out the YouTube video of a man who has eaten over 23,000 Big Macs. Based on his gastronomical feat, he doesn’t really look any worse for the wear, if you ask me (other than needing a new hairstyle). Happy eating!
