Breakfast / Coffee

Mmmmm.  Starting the day with a hearty breakfast really gets me motivated to attack life with creativity, drive and…a nap.  I sit in a cubicle all day.  You can’t really expect that filling up on a Big Breakfast with Hotckaes and a side of McGriddle incents my eyelids to stay open.  I’ll be honest with you, though: my favorite kind of emotional eating takes place in the AM.  It might stem from a nostalgic childhood moment.  It might stem from wanting to pass that moment on to my own children.  However, my money is on the likelihood that my body and brain are high-fructose corn syrup deprived from the previous night’s sleep, and I need to get my fix as soon as possible upon waking; enter the pancake syrup.  Motivation is overrated anyway.

I will say this, however: one of the smartest moves McDonald’s made in the last decade was the addition of their coffee drinks to the menu.  I mean, people are going to have their coffee no matter the nutritional debits it makes in their lives, so while people are ordering their sausage biscuit, why not cross-sell them the coffee, too?.  It just makes good fiscal sense.  Not nutritional sense, though…that’d be crazy-talk.
